The conservative public formula
Arrived cash
− required commitments
− protected reserves
− safety buffer
= raw Safe-to-Spend result
The displayed result is floored at RM0.00. If the raw result is negative, the remaining gap is shown as shortfall.
Why this calculator is intentionally conservative
This public calculator is intentionally conservative. It does not model individual commitments linked to specific reserves. The full WangBuddy app can avoid double-counting when a commitment is explicitly linked to the reserve intended to cover it.
The calculator treats your total commitments as unlinked and keeps all entered reserves fully protected. It never guesses which reserve might cover which payment.

Fictional Malaysian ringgit example
Using the same production calculation as the tool, imagine RM5,000.00 has already arrived. Required commitments total RM2,000.00, protected reserves total RM1,000.00 and the safety buffer is RM500.00.
| Cash already arrived | RM5,000.00 |
|---|---|
| Required commitments | − RM2,000.00 |
| Protected reserves | − RM1,000.00 |
| Safety buffer | − RM500.00 |
| Raw and displayed Safe to Spend | RM1,500.00 |
| Shortfall | RM0.00 |
